Ledger™ Wallet: | Getting Started | Official Site

Welcome to the official getting started guide for the Ledger™ Wallet. If you're stepping into the world of cryptocurrency, securing your digital assets is your first and most important step. Ledger hardware wallets offer an industry-leading solution to protect your funds through offline storage, verified firmware, and user-friendly management tools.

What is the Ledger™ Wallet?

The Ledger Wallet is a physical, hardware-based cryptocurrency wallet that allows you to store your private keys offline. Unlike web or mobile wallets that are vulnerable to online threats, Ledger devices keep your keys isolated in a secure chip, minimizing the risk of hacks, phishing, and malware.

There are two main Ledger hardware wallets:

Step-by-Step: Getting Started

1. Purchase from the Official Site

Always purchase your Ledger device directly from the official website: https://www.ledger.com. Avoid third-party marketplaces to prevent risks of pre-tampered devices.

2. Unbox and Check Contents

Inside your box, you should find the Ledger device, USB cable, instructions, recovery sheet, and accessories. Ensure the package is sealed and untampered.

3. Navigate to Ledger.com/Start

To begin setup, go to ledger.com/start. This is the official guide with verified firmware and safety checks.

Note: Never Google search “Ledger Live” or “Ledger Setup.” Use official links only.

4. Install Ledger Live

Download the Ledger Live™ app for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, or iOS. This is your interface to manage assets, check balances, install coin apps, and more.

5. Initialize Your Ledger Device

Important: Your 24-word phrase is the only way to restore your wallet if the device is lost or damaged. Never store it digitally. Never share it. Ledger will never ask for it.

6. Install Coin Apps

Each cryptocurrency requires a specific app installed on your Ledger device. Use Ledger Live’s “Manager” tab to install Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other apps as needed.

7. Add Crypto Accounts

Once apps are installed, add accounts in Ledger Live. This lets you track balances and receive funds. You can add multiple wallets for each supported coin.
